Panto dames, elves and fireworks at Holt Christmas lights switch-on
A parade of panto dames helped celebrate Holt's big switch-on last night with plenty of sauciness and colour.
And the festive filip was needed during an evening which mixed rain and strong winds with a definite winter's nip in the air.
The fancy-dress wearing dames strutted their stuff ahead of the 6pm switch-on of the town's all-white lights, followed by a fireworks display.
The fun also included entertainment in the High Street with pipers from the Thursford Christmas Spectacular and a strolling band of ukulele-playing elves.
A lantern parade, including animal lanterns made by the Fairyland Trust, and carol singing were also among the attractions.
Many shops stayed open into the evening and the hundreds of visitors were able to browse stalls and buy food and drink in the closed-off town centre.
