Two men who died in a double-stabbing in Ipswich on Thursday have been named locally as Nathan Oakley and Barry Street.
Suffolk police officers were called to the West Meadows travellers' site off the Whitehouse roundabout just before 1.15pm on Thursday, after reports that a man in his 30s had been stabbed.
He collapsed outside the site entrance and was rushed to hospital by ambulance.
Just 15 minutes later at 1.30pm another man in his late teens arrived at the hospital in a car having sustained suspected stab wounds.
Despite the best efforts of surgeons, both men died a short while later.
Self-employed labourer Barry Street, 32, has been named locally as the first man.
In 2006 Street was handed a 14-year jail sentence for leading a gang which carried out a series of ram raids and armed robberies estimated to tally up to £500,000.
The teenager has been named locally as 18-year-old Nathan Oakley.
Eastgate Boxing Club in Rougham, where Nathan Oakley and his older brother Earnie used to train, issued a statement on its Facebook page which said: 'Some sad news for the club today. Earnie and Nathan were both a big part of our club a few years ago, and came to see us a few months ago. Thinking of their family at this sad time. Both boys were a credit to our club. RIP Nathan.'
A spokesman from the club added that they were 'very upset about what's happened,' and added that 'he had a lot of potential.'
The post mortem examinations of both men are due to take place tomorrow, while police are still to formally identify the pair.
On Thursday afternoon police officers arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder, who remains in custody after a 12 hour extension was granted for further questioning earlier today.
And detectives believe dash cam footage from motorists passing the entrance to West Meadows could contain vital information in their investigation.
A force spokesman said: 'Police are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of West Meadows between 8am and 3pm yesterday to contact detectives with any information they may have.
'Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have driven past the entrance of the site during this time and who have dash-cams fitted in their vehicles.'
A heavy police presence was called to both West Meadows, which was closed at the Whitehouse A14 sliproad, and outside the Garrett Anderson Centre at Ipswich Hospital on Thursday, although officers confirmed there was no threat to public safety.
Despite the police presence, patients were able to move freely in and out of the A&E department, while most of the car parks remained open.
The hospital tweeted to say its services were unaffected by the incident.
Officers have today continued to be stationed at both West Meadows and the hospital while police investigations continued.
