A statue of Our Lady of Walsingham could be mounted on the outside wall of a grade 2 listed building in the north Norfolk village.
A planning application has been submitted to North Norfolk District Council by Eileen Kavanagh, of St Damians, the Ark, in Friday Market.
The application states that “the moderate-sized statue” would have an existing light underneath it and would replace an existing exhibit.
It would measure 68.5cm in height, 21cm in breadth, and 38cm in width, and be in a wooden casing made of European oak.
The application states that “informal feedback from neighbours from doorstep conversations show no concern about the proposal”.
The National Shrine of Our Lady at Walsingham has been a place of pilgrimage since medieval times.
