A Lowestoft high school is celebrating after securing a 'double-double'.
Last Tuesday, February 28 Ormiston Denes Academy (ODA) triumphed in the annual north Suffolk school sports U15 handball competition – with overall victories in both the boys and girls contests.
And yesterday, March 7, ODA triumphed with a further double success in the U13 north Suffolk school sports handball competitions. The academy hosted the event for the third successive year, with Jeffrey Hoey organising, and support form Lowestoft Sixth Form College students.
With teams from Pakefield High, Benjamin Britten Music Academy and two ODA teams contesting the boys' competition, ODA B won their first two matches, with the A team winning one of theirs, meaning the B team qualified for the final against Pakefield, which ODA won 2-1.
ODA girls went through the competition unbeaten, playing some exciting handball to take the area championships – meaning both the U13 boys and girls progress through to the county championships later this month.
