Held for the third year, but at an exciting new venue, the awards honour those who go above and beyond to help their communities, giving local residents the recognition they deserve.

This year's award ceremony will be held at the Ivy House Country Hotel in Oulton Broad, allowing organisers to invite more guests to celebrate on the night.

The ceremony will be held on October 10, with BBC Radio Suffolk presenter Mark Murphy returning as the host.

And nominations are still open for the 10 award categories. They are Young Person of the Year, Outstanding Sporting Achievement of the Year, Community Group or Champion of the Year, Outstanding Bravery, Team of the Year Education Star, Uniform Services, Veteran of the Year, Charity Worker of the Year and Unsung Hero/Heroine of the Year.

The closing date for nominations is September 8, with the judging taking place on September 25.

Organiser Mick Parker, from Parker Communications, said: 'We started it to celebrate real local heroes, and the response we've had from the community in Lowestoft has been unbelievable.

'And over the years, as people have seen the sincerity of the event, more and more people want to get involved, and this allows us to put on a great evening with great prizes.

'The awards are progressing really well this year, but we still need even more entries in all of the categories to make the night really special.

'Everybody must know someone who goes above and beyond for their community, organisation or group, and deserves to be recognised as a real hero.'

The previous venue - The Hotel Victoria in Lowestoft - will continue as a key sponsor for the event along with a range of other local businesses. The Eastern Daily Press and its sister papers the Lowestoft Journal and Beccles and Bungay Journal are proud to be continuing as media sponsors.

This year's headline sponsor is Lowestoft-based Kingsley Healthcare.
