An opera singer has flown to Norwich from Ireland to save the New Years Day Concert in St Andrew's Hall.
Eugene Ginty from English National Opera has stepped in to replace Benjamin Lake, who was unable to perform due to illness, at the concert at 3pm today.
Mr Ginty was in Dublin when he was asked by conductor Geoff Davidson, to stand in.
An audience of up to 700 people is expected at today's concert.
Keith Hobday, orchestral manager, said: 'Benjamin is suffering from a cold and flu. He is very upset about being unable to perform. A lot of friends and family had arranged to support him and there were lots of people who were looking forward to seeing him.
'We are delighted that the talented Eugene is able to perform.'
