An independent travel company from Swaffham has seen off competition from the industry's major players to win a top award.

One Traveller was named overall winner of the best singles holiday company at the 2017 British Travel Awards, voted for by the public.

The Future50 member company, which offers singles holidays for over-50s was founded in 2007 by Ian Darkin. He led the company's first trip to Prague and has overseen its growth to now offer more than 40 holidays.

Mr Darkin said: 'We were one of the smallest companies, in terms of the number of people we carry each year, which technically makes our achievement even greater. This award is something that the entire team at One Traveller can be proud of.'

One Traveller has won the British Travel Awards best small singles holiday company award for four years in a row, but this year was the first time it has won the overall title.
