One Day author David Nicholls writes to Hethersett Library

Staff at Hethersett Library have had their day made by 'One Day' author David Nicholls.

The library organised a special event under the heading One Village, One Library, One Book, One Day to encourage as many people as possible to read Nicholls' best seller and leave comments on a special display at the library.

A number of people took up the challenge and word got back to the author who responded with a letter to the library expressing his pleasure at the initiative.

The letter was addressed to all at Hethersett Library from the author and said: 'I was recently sent a newspaper cutting about 'One Day' being chosen as a community read. I thought I would write and say thank you. Libraries mean a great deal to me - I wouldn't be a reader or a writer without them. I'm honoured and just hope everyone enjoys the book,'

'It was a really nice gesture and made our day,' said Hethersett Library Manager Jennie Hoult.
