Agewise will bring together service providers and charities in the town next month.

Health, safety, finance and benefits, independent living, housing and home care, counselling and befriending will be among the issues covered.

North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb is expected to attend the free event on April 5.

Janice Mellor, a volunteer with Aylsham and District Care Trust (ACT), which is hosting the advice session, said: 'A lot of older people do not have access to the internet so they are not aware of what services may be available.

'Living in rural areas they can be isolated and don't like to ask for help as it is difficult to give up their independence.

'A lot of charities like working together and this is an opportunity to bring them all under one roof.'

Agewise is taking place at the ACT Centre, St Michael's Avenue from 10am to 2pm.

A free shuttle bus will be running from Aylsham Market Place to the event.

ACT has been providing care and support to older and vulnerable people in the community, their family and carers for over 30 years.

The event is sponsored by Barratt and Cooke stockbrokers, and supported by Broadland District Council.

ACT provides lunch clubs, social outings, coffee mornings, transport to health care appointments, counselling, pastoral care, dementia care and support, shopping trips, befriending, day care, and other activities.
