Authentic music and traditional yodelling is being planned for an Oktoberfest-themed event being organised by a military charity Bridge for Heroes.
Steins of German beer will be served with wurst and frites to raise awareness and much-needed funds for The Bridge for Heroes.
The organisation supports veterans readjusting to civilian life, and this first Oktoberfest event is one of the most novel fundraisers so far.
Founder Mike Taylor said: “We’re really looking forward to it.
“The Bridge for Heroes helps veterans who are going through a lot in their lives. This is a light-hearted event that will hopefully not only raise funds, but will also raise awareness of the work we do.”
He added: “Our beneficiaries have told us before that we helped keep them alive and also realise that life is worth living.
The charity provides treatment sessions at its contact centre, as well as support in areas such as finances, employment, housing and health needs of service personnel, veterans and their families.
The Oktoberfest event is taking place at The General Dannatt Contact Centre on South Clough Lane, near St James’ car park, King’s Lynn, tomorrow from 7pm. Fancy dress is encouraged and an award handed out to the best dressed. Tickets are £10 and available in advance from the centre or by calling 01553 760230.
Last month, the charity released an animation called The Great Story, a series of short animations which focus on various events and themes from the First World War. Free DVDs of the film are now available in Nando’s King’s Lynn.
