Homes across Lowestoft have been raided by police as detectives targeted drug dealing across the town.

A total of six arrests were made and a quantity of drugs was seized by officers from the east Scorpion team.

Other Suffolk Police teams including response officers, local Safer Neighbourhood Teams and Lowestoft CID, supported the operation – which has seen officers carry out a number of warrants at properties since the start of the year.

Detective Inspector Simon Bridgland said; 'We are pro-actively targeting those thought to be involved in the supply of class A drugs into the Lowestoft area and this pro-active work has resulted in a number of arrests and drugs seizures.'

? Two people were arrested and a quantity of controlled drugs were seized after police carried out a warrant at a home in Bevan Street West on Sunday, January 17.

A quantity of white powder was found in the bathroom and in a freezer at the address.

Digital scales with white powder residue on, clear bags and several mobile phones were also seized from the property and a 24-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, both from the town, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.

Both were taken into custody and interviewed in connection with the finds, before being bailed to return to police on Monday, March 14.

? A man, a woman and a 16-year-old boy were charged with drugs offences after police executed a drugs warrant at a home in Cleveland Road on Monday, January 11.

Officers seized a quantity of wraps, believed to contain crack cocaine, and just under £1,000 in cash.

A 28-year-old woman from Lowestoft, a 23-year-old man from south-east London and the 16-year-old, also from south-east London – were arrested and taken into custody where they were interviewed and charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine.

The 16-year-old boy was also charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply, while the 28-year-old woman from Lowestoft was also charged with permitting premises to be used for the supply of crack cocaine.

All three are due to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on Tuesday, February 9.

? On Thursday, January 7, officers carried out a warrant at Victoria Terrace and discovered a small bag of cannabis.

One man – a 20-year-old from Belvedere in London – was arrested for possession of cannabis and was subsequently issued with a £90 ticket for the offence.

? Police also carried out warrants at an address on Marine Parade on Thursday, January 14 and at another address in Grosvenor Road on Friday, January 15.

At both properties, drugs were found and one person at each home – a man at Marine Parade and a woman at Grosvenor Road – received a cannabis warning.

Detective Sgt Karl Storey, who oversees the east Scorpion Team, added: 'This shows that we will take action where we have information about the supply of drugs. 'Sometimes it may take a little time while we gather a full picture but we will continue to carry out warrants and searches as appropriate to tackle both those coming into Lowestoft to supply and residents who are involved in dealing illegal drugs.'
