Margarita Robertson, 87, suffered a major stroke on June 6 and passed away a week later in the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

Her daughter Ana Eccleston, 49, said her mother had been conscious following the stroke and they had managed to communicate with her in the week before her passing.

Mrs Robertson had run the Mitre pub in Earlham Road, Norwich, between 1984 and 1999 with her late husband Andrew 'Gordon' Robertson.

Mr Robertson passed away in 2015.

Mrs Eccleston described her mother as being a people's person. 'She was very friendly and outgoing. Even after they both retired in 1999 my mom carried on working at the pub helping out as she loved it so much. She was a real people's person. Even in the last few months of her life she would still say that if she could be back working in the pub she would do it.'

Mr and Mrs Robertson married in 1954 and went on to have three children; two daughters, Ana and Collette, and one son, Billy, who died in 2010.

The pair had ran pubs far and wide, in Majorca and Peterborough, before moving to Norwich to take over the Mitre.

Mr Robertson died at 84 years old, on November 18, after losing his fight with lung cancer.

'My mom and dad had very different personalities,' said Mrs Eccleston. 'My dad was always the one behind the bar keeping an eye on things while my mom had a larger than life personality and she was very outgoing. She would be on the other side of the bar socialising and entertaining.'

She said that right up until the last few months of her life, her mother was still in contact with former staff members of the Mitre pub.

'She was quite active of Facebook in the last four to five years and was still in touch with many of the barmaids who had worked with them at the pub but are now living around the world. Many people have messaged to say how sad they are at the news of her passing.'

Mrs Robertson's funeral will take place at Greenacres Colney Wood, Norwich at 1pm on July 4.
