It is an iconic landmark of the Suffolk coast which has been a prominent tourist attraction for more than a hundred years.
But on Wednesday, due to heavy patches of fog, Southwold Pier vanished temporarily behind a ghostly veil before the eyes of one keen photographer.
Simon Turner caught this stunning before and after image on Wednesday morning as the popular pier disappeared behind the fog- which had earlier seen the Met Office issue a yellow weather warning.
