Stars from a Norwich theatre company have been impressing audiences in the West End of London with their acting antics.

The company, Theatretrain, based at the Hewett School in Norwich, sent 65 of their troupe to the Sadler's Wells Theatre in London to perform Now Then, a performance which incorporates dance, song and drama to cover 27 musical years – transporting the audience back to the music and events of 1985 and leading them back to the present day.

Centre director Sharon Jones said: 'It was a challenge and a delight to take our pupils and put them on one of the most famous stages in the UK, but they had a wonderful time and gave a fantastic performance in all areas of dance, drama and singing.

'The pupils absolutely loved it, despite it being a long and tiring day. The excitement when you perform on a London stage is huge.

'We got a lot of praise because we had some marvellous props so they looked very good on stage. They had a fantastic time.

'The parents also love it that we give their children opportunities like this that perhaps they wouldn't usually have.'

Mrs Jones added: 'We give everybody the same opportunities and don't restrict people. We try our best to welcome everybody; we don't hold auditions and turn people away.

'We aim to inspire and nurture our pupils at the same time, and remember they are all individuals who need to develop personally.

'My greatest thrill is when someone starts to thrive and flourish and you can watch them developing.

'It's lovely to see an individual's confidence grow.'
