Shakespeare's Timon of Athens is the latest production to be performed by the Norwich-based Sewell Barn Theatre Company. The show, directed by Rob Tiffen, is being performed tonight, tomorrow and from Wednesday to Saturday next week at the theatre in Constitution Hill in the north of the city.
It sees wealthy and generous Timon lose a fortune, and with it a host of sycophants.
In self-imposed exile, he finds a new fortune which brings the sycophants crawling back to him, but by then he has learnt to see through shallow flattery.
The production, which features a stark set and modern dress, aims to show how the themes of Timon of Athens echo through the banking crisis and austerity in contemporary Britain.
Tickets for the show are available from the Sewell Barn website - www.sewellbarn.org - or from Prelude Records, in St Giles Street, Norwich, in person or on 01603 628319.
