New research has found that people in Norwich feel safer on a night out than those living in many other places across the country.

Plymouth was found the be the safest city for a late night out, with Norwich in second and Nottingham, Newcastle and Brighton following behind.

The research, conducted by Censuswide for The Deltic Group, examined the late night economy and consumer trends of 2,447 British adults.

It also revealed that Norwich was one of the top cities for people abstaining from alcohol during Dry January, with the average person lasting 15 days compared to the national average of 12 days.

This new research comes just after a campaign was launched to get residential street lights turned back on in Norwich after a survey found people living in the city felt unsafe walking home.
