Judges from the Great British Market Awards are casting their eye over Norwich Market today. Finley Kidd went down to pick out 10 reasons why it should take the title of Britain's Favourite Market.

1. Taxi Vintage:

Stalls 97, 98, and 99.

Taxi Vintage is a treasure trove of well-curated second-hand retro clothing at affordable prices. Whether you're looking for warm knits, old Levi's denim, or sportswear from eras past, Taxi won't disappoint. The staff are always friendly and usually willing to hold items, for the indecisive among us.

2. Cary's Flowers:

Stalls 168, 186, and 187.

According to owner Charlene Cary, Cary's Flowers has been going as a family business in the same location for about 140 years, and the longevity of their trade is reflected in the quality of the blooms. They also have some gorgeous Christmas wreaths at the moment, if you're looking to get festive.

3. Cocina Mia:

Stalls 152-153.

Cocina Mia specialises in authentic Chilean food, based on family recipes that have been passed down through the generations. They serve delicious fresh empanadas, as well as ensaladas and daily lunchtime specials.

4. The Feed:

Stalls 24-25.

With the strapline 'off the streets and into the kitchen', The Feed doesn't just serve deli-style lunch but is also a social enterprise, working with people in the community who have faced homelessness by getting them back into work.

5. Cake by Figbar:

Stall 50.

This is the market stall offshoot of the highly successful Maddermarket-based restaurant, Figbar. They offer a range of tantalizingly delicious cakes and sweet treats, and also cater to gluten-free and vegan diets.

6. Handcrafted Leather and Books:

Stall 18.

On approaching Andy Worman's stall, you'll be inundated with towering piles of second-hand books looking for homes. He also makes a variety of leatherware products himself, as well as offering a leatherware repair service.

7. Folland Organics:

Stalls 30-31.

Folland Organics trades in certified organic fruit and vegetables from three local smallholdings, bringing quality, seasonal ingredients to the market. If you're looking to get some fresh vegetables for your Christmas dinner, or make a hearty seasonal stew, this is your place.

8. Lasagneria:

Stall 175.

When asked about the origin story of Lasagneria, Paolo Grazzini said 'Everyone was making pizza, so I decided to be a little different and make lasagne.' He imports a plethora of special ingredients from Italy, and is constantly expanding the menu to include new Italian delicacies.

9. Herbs and Spices:

Stalls 42-43.

The Herbs and Spices stall seems to visibly glow, with its vast array of colourful and enticing loose herbs, spices, beans, pulses, dried fruits and nuts. This is the place to get you in the mood for cooking, or perhaps consult an expert on different flavour combinations.

10. Bia Kitchen Vegan Diner:

Stalls 54-55.

Michelle McCabe of Bia Kitchen describes how 'when we started two years ago there weren't very many fully vegan outlets', and therefore, the diner serves an important purpose in catering to the 'huge vegetarian and vegan community in Norwich'. All of their food is homemade.
