A Norwich man who died in a road crash on the A47 southern bypass at Cringleford on Sunday has been named as 31-year-old Simon Aspland.

Mr Aspland, from Richenda Close, Earlham, was driving a red Peugeot 206 westbound when it left the carriageway and went down an embankment near the Thickthorn roundabout flyover, in Cringleford, at around 12.15pm.

A female passenger, Mr Aspland's partner, was treated for minor leg injuries but has since left hospital.

An inquest into Mr Aspland's death was opened in Norwich today and deputy assistant coroner for Norfolk, Yvonne Blake adjourned the inquest to a date to be fixed.
