Matt Robertson has been shortlisted in the illustrated books category of the competition for his picture book Super Stan, which is described as a funny tale of superhero sibling rivalry and is published by Orchard Books - Hachette.

Mr Robertson said: 'I am super thrilled that Super Stan has been shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2017. 'Super Stan began life as a twinkle of an idea whilst I was working in a children's bookshop...It has been brilliant to finally see my first picture book in print, and being shortlisted for such a prestigious prize really is the most fantastic start to 2017.'

The overall winner of Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2016 was David Solomons' My Brother is a Superhero. The 2017 winners will be announced on March 30. For more, visit www.waterstones.com/wcbp
