Staff at a Norwich furniture shop have bounced back to reopen the store after suffering two devastating floods earlier this summer.

The Cotswold Company Furniture Store on Riverside Road was first hit by floods at the end of May, and has been closed ever since.

The £6,000 showroom floor had to be ripped up entirely, only for it to flood again just weeks before work on the new floor was due to begin.

Showroom Manager Catherine Kercher, 38, said dealing with the effects of the floods had been tough on the whole team.

'You do care about the place when you spend so much time at work,' she said.

'All the staff are coming in for our reopening on Saturday, we want it to be like a new start.

'We've been closed for four months now so we wanted the showroom to look a lot better than it did, it's had a new lick of pain and we've got some new pieces in.

'We're really proud of it.'

During the closure, the team of five showroom staff have operated from the outlet part of the store, which was a challenge.

Mrs Kercher said: 'It has been an experience, the outlet team have been really nice but we have just had to stay motivated and upbeat all that time.

'We're really looking forward to the opening now, we just want to shout about it.'

The store opened yesterday as a dry run for Saturday's relaunch, and some of the store's regular customers have already been back for a look.

Lewis Allen, 24, is a Sales Advisor in the showroom and said it was nice to see familiar faces after being shut for so long.

'We've had our regulars come in and say hello, which is nice.

'It was a bit tough seeing it all being ripped up and having to start again but we're fully back up and running now, just like before but even better!'

The store reopens at 9am on September 27 with a prize draw for customers to enter.
