A group of Norwich City fans are looking to improve the atmosphere at Carrow Road - and are urging fellow supporters to dip into their pockets to help create a carnival feeling at the stadium.

The Barclay End Norwich supporters group and fansite Along Come Norwich have launched a crowdfunder campaign to help with their efforts to better project the passion of the Canaries' faithful at home matches.

The groups have set a target to raise £3,000, which would be used to buy flags, banners and displays for supporters to raise aloft in the Lower Barclay - and potentially the Upper Barclay too.

They say clubs such as Nottingham Forest, Watford and Aston Villa have put on similar displays, with the goal of uniting fans, showing support for the Canaries' players and intimidating the opposition team.

Andy Lawn, co-founder of Along Come Norwich, said: 'Our feeling is that, for the last five or six years, there's been a slow decline in the atmosphere and the enjoyment in going to Carrow Road.

'What we want to do is encourage people to have fun, to make it enjoyable.

'We did a bit last season, with banners and flags, using money raised by selling t-shirts, but we've gone as far as we can go with that now, so we wanted a bigger fundraiser.

'We've set a target of £3,000, because that would cover everything we want to do and it works out the equivalent of a £1 for everyone in the Barclay.

'We know that not everybody will want to, but for those who do, it would help us to create a really good atmosphere, with more flags and banners covering the Barclay.' As of last night, the fundraising page at the GoFundMe website had raised almost £700, with 40 people donating to the campaign.

The first 120 people who donate more than £10 will get a Barclay End Norwich pin badge, while One City Strong T-shirts are being sold, with all profits going into the crowdfunder.
