A Norwich City football legend has helped a Wymondham primary school celebrate a new sporting facility.

Former Canaries striker Iwan Roberts has visited Browick Road Primary School to unveil is multi-activity sports wall, the first of many sports-related improvements planned for the site, which has switched from an infant school.

To celebrate the occasion and to reinforce its focus on sport, the school also hosted an inspiration through sport day with parents, children and visitors joining in the fun.

As part of the day pupils talked about sporting role models and learnt about healthy eating and living.

And the Norwich City striker, who scored 97 goals in 306 appearances from 1997 to 2004, was also quizzed by pupils about his illustrious career.

Working with Norfolk County Council's children's services and Sport England, the primary school has a plan to transform facilities over the next two years.

Planning permission for a multi-use all weather sports pitch is being sought and work to reshape the sports hall and resurface the playground is being planned.
