Former Norwich City star Darren Huckerby will be helping scouts at a high ropes challenge at a special fundraising event on Sunday .

Youngsters hoping to attend the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden later this year have organised the challenge at Eaton Vale scout and guide activity centre, and the former Canaries winger will be on hand to offer support. The event, between 10am and 4pm on Sunday, sees people paying 10 to 'have a go' at two of the four High Ropes Challenges at Eaton Vale, in Church Lane, Eaton, with the funds raised going towards covering the contingents costs of attending the World Scout Jamboree. Last December the Jamboree contingent took time out to help the Darren Huckerby Trust by bag packing at Marks & Spencer in Norwich a few day before Christmas.

In return Darren is coming along to support their High Ropes Challenge fundraising.

Darren, who will be at the event at 1pm said: 'The scouts were brilliant and worked tirelessly all day, helping raise over 1,000 for the Trust, so now I'm looking forward to hanging out with them on the High Ropes course at Eaton Vale this Sunday'.

Explorer Scout Steven Croxall, 15, said 'I'm really looking forwards to going to the Jamboree, it's a great opportunity to meet scouts from all over the world and take part in a programme of international scouting activities. We have all worked hard fundraising to meet the costs of the jamboree and people signing up to do the High Rope Challenge is a way to raise funds by sharing in the fun and adventure of scouting.'
