It was another long and anxious wait for many Norwich City fans as they queued, phoned, and kept refreshing their internet as part a last-minute scramble to get their hands on the final batch of Wembley tickets.

The club sold out of its initial allocation in just over two hours earlier this week, but managed to secure a few hundred more seats which went on sale from 9am yesterday to season ticket holders, priority members, away season ticket holders and shareholder members.

As the newspaper went to print, there were still a handful of tickets available for City's £120m play-off final showdown with Middlesbrough.

More than 100 people were queuing at Carrow Road by 9am yesterday morning for the last of the tickets which will now see a 39,500-strong green and yellow army marching on Wembley on Monday.

Some of the fans in the queue were so desperate to get their hands on the last remaining tickets for the match that they even arrived late on Thursday night.

June Rudham, 62, from Sprowston, was first in the queue having arrived at 11pm and although she admits it was a cold night she insists it was well worth it.

She said: 'We were the only ones there overnight until about 4am and then people started coming but in dribs and drabs – one bloke came all the way from Cornwall last night and drove eight hours.'

The life-long City fan got her tickets and now she and five other members of her family will be heading to Wembley by train on Monday.

n Fans unable to get tickets to watch Monday's play-off final at Wembley were given the chance to watch the game at Carrow Road.

The club yesterday announced it would be opening up the Gunn Club, meaning there would be 400 places available at Carrow Road to watch the Wembley action on Monday. Tickets are £5 and include two pints at the bar, with doors opening at 2pm. Tickets are on sale online only, and won't be available on the day. To find out more log onto www.canaries.co.uk

n Norwich City yesterday warned there was a greater risk of ticket touting for the final because of the huge demand for tickets.

The club urged fans to avoid touts, telling them touted tickets may already have been cancelled or be fakes, which would not work when scanned at the stadium.

Some touted tickets can be duplicates, meaning the seat may already be taken, or stolen.
