Women from the North Walsham Bowls and Snooker Club have crocheted and knitted poppies to decorate their clubhouse in honour of those who lost their lives in war.

Club members have also made about 100 poppy brooches, which are being sold for a suggested donation of £2, with proceeds to be shared between East Anglia's Children's Hospices and the Royal British Legion.

The poppies are now decorating the bar at the club rooms. The idea for the fundraiser came about because committee member Carole Swan is the English Bowling Federation's national president for the coming year, and she wanted to nominate a charity to raise money for. Anyone wanting to donate more poppies can contact Hazel Sadler on 01692 405213, and those interested in joining the club, which has a crochet and knitting group that meets on Wednesday evenings, can call Ann Wilkinson 01692 500710.

The club is based at 17 New Road, North Walsham.
