Interviews with top stars recorded by North Walsham broadcaster Alan Thompson for the BBC have been saved as they are shortly to be digitalised.

The 69-year-old radio presenter and producer has been going through a number of recordings of interviews he did in the late '80s and early '90s which were recorded onto cassettes.

He said: 'I didn't realise what a treasure trove there is. Artists include Cliff Richard, Barbara Dickson, Ernie Wise, Frank Muir and Professor Jimmy Edwards.

'There is also an interview with ventriloquist Terry Hall and Lenny the Lion. Terry, of course, will no doubt be remembered for his summer show at Great Yarmouth. The one thing that sticks in my memory about the interview is that I took along my mother and two sons who were then of school age. 'When Lenny answered a question, I put the microphone to the lion puppet's mouth.'
