The company that owns a picturesque Norfolk village pub has moved to ease fears that it could close for good today.
The Black Boys in Aldborough, near Cromer, which is owned by Punch Taverns, is set to close its doors today - sparking fears the village could be left without a watering hole as the other village pub, The Red Lion, is currently up for sale.
But a spokesman for Punch Taverns said a 'new operator' would be taking over the lease of the Black Boys on January 4.
She said: 'The Black Boys is currently being operated on a temporary agreement and the notice of the current operator expires on New Year's Eve. The pub plans to re-open on January 4 with a new operator.'
John Padgham, chairman of Aldborough and Thurgarton Parish Council, said: 'I know the Red Lion is up for sale and the Black Boys is closing on New Year's Eve, and there is a certain amount of concern over that.'
