The first competition of North Norfolk Photographic Society’s new season, judged by Andy Swain, revealed a fascinating range of portraits, nature studies and artistic snaps.
Clive Matthews won a ‘novice’ section with ‘Waiting for the Whistle’ - a monochrome of steamy machinery including a loco whistle. Second was Barrie Price with ‘Trying to Catch Up’ - a child on a bike some way behind the presumed parents. Third came Hanne Siebers with a portrait of a well bearded ‘Norfolk Fisherman’.
The ‘advanced’ class was won by Nick Akers with ‘Inquisitive Shag’ - a close-up of a bird’s open bill. Michaela Bone’s ‘Smoking Opium’ was second, depicting an gentleman smoking a pipe and third place went to Lizzie Wallis for ‘Precious Heritage’ portrait of a young girl standing in front of a carved wall.
The society meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Holt Community Centre.
