A North Norfolk blogger has won a prestigious award from Mencap, having written a piece describing how she felt when she found out her younger sibling would have Down Syndrome.
Rebecca Fisher, otherwise known as the Coastal Mummy, wrote a piece about her brother Rory which won her the Print Journalism award for the learning disability charity.
The mum-of-one said: 'It's about how we found out at the 12 week scan that Rory would have Down Syndrome. I realised after the scan that even though this information was news to us that baby was still him, he was still my brother and even though we knew this he wasn't a different baby to who he was before.'
The 22-year-old continued: 'I'd only been blogging since September 2016, so didn't expect to win and didn't even tell anyone I'd entered. I rang my mum crying when I won and explained to her what I'd written.'
Rebecca, from Burhnam Market, will be awarded £1,000 for her piece, but will not be attending the London awards ceremony as she's expecting her second child!
