'A friend for life' is how Ronald Bloxham describes North Norfolk health volunteer Richard Fry.

Mr Bloxham was referred to Voluntary Norfolk's volunteer service by his GP practice as he lived alone and also needed support to use his laptop.

Meanwhile, Mr Fry applied to become a volunteer with the charity following the death of his grandparents.

He wanted to form a connection with an older person again and also give something back to the community.

Since their introduction, Mr Bloxham said they had become 'great friends', and that Mr Fry had helped him settle into residential care.

Natalie Hickman, Voluntary Norfolk coordinator, said: 'Ronald and Richard are a great example of how a befriending volunteer not only enhances the life of the person they've visiting, but can make a big difference to their own life too.'
