A couple celebrating their 60th anniversary said 'enjoying life' was the secret to a happy and long marriage.

Robert, 82, and Carroll Cooper, 80, from Kelling Close, Holt, were married in nearby Hunworth on September 21, 1957.

Mrs Cooper said: 'We have always talked things through and listened to each other. We have made joint decisions and helped each other out. The secret is to try and enjoy life.'

The couple, who have two daughters and four grandchildren, celebrated their anniversary with a party at the nearby Pheasant Hotel.

They arrived at the venue in an Austin 7 Ruby, which was the car Mr Cooper drove when they were courting.

Mr Cooper was a herdsman at Baconsthorpe and used to milk the cows at Baconsthorpe castle. He was also a driver with Eastern Counties Buses. His wife had several jobs including telephonist and EDP correspondent, and she once ran a curtains business.
