Norfolk youngsters play Alice

Six young actors from Norfolk will be going through the rabbit hole to become Alice in Wonderland in a special show for the Norfolk and Norwich Festival.

The girls aged six to 15-years-old will all play the title role in the show Dining with Alice which will be performed at Elsing Hall, near Dereham, next month.

The show is described as a topsy-turvy dinner party hosted by the characters from the classic tale Alice in Wonderland.

The girls were chosen for the role out of about 150 hopefuls, and on Thursday the six girls met up together at Chapelfield Gardens in Norwich.

Anna Cook, from Artichoke which is producing the show, said: 'This was the first time the girls had all met up together since the auditions. They are lovely girls and they are going to be great in the show.'

The girls playing Alice are Amelia Mason, eight, from Sprowston, Hannah Marjoram, six, from South Walsham, Chloe Watts, six, from Great Yarmouth, Nancy Dickinson, seven, from Wymondham, Millie Houchon, 12, from Lowestoft, and Lily Highton, 15, from New Buckenham.

The show needed girls of different ages and heights because in Alice in Wonderland Alice famously changes size when the contents of a bottle labelled 'drink me' causes her to shrink and a cake with 'eat me' written on it causes her to grow.
