Norfolk pub shortlisted for 2016 Seafood Restaurant of the Year

The White Horse, at Brancaster Staithe, is up against 10 other hopefuls from around the country. The winner will be announced in September.

Executive chef Avrum Frankel said: 'With our village fishermen delivering their catch of the day to our kitchen door and sustainability very much in the forefront of our business ethos, we have worked hard to gain this recognition and are delighted to showcase the best fish offer on our menu. We look forward to the next stage of the judging process.'

Three staff members from the 2016 winning restaurant will be invited to an all-expenses paid study trip to the fishing port of Brixham, in South Devon, later in the year, to further hone their knowledge regarding the catching and processing of seafood.

The winner will receive a bespoke trophy for their restaurant and an individually designed seafood masterclass at Billingsgate Seafood Training School with a guest chef.

Andy Gray, trade marketing manager for Seafish, said: 'The Seafood Restaurant of the Year competition provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase the wide range of restaurants, pubs and cafés that are excelling in providing customers with top quality fish and shellfish dining experiences.'
