A Norfolk programme which supports people who have barriers to employment will be highlighted to those using Jobcentre Plus.
Evolve, the programme from Norfolk Industries for Disabled People, helps those who face setbacks due to disability, age, long term unemployment or living in a rural area.
The programme works by offering a range of training and development opportunities over a period of eight to 12 weeks, alongside a work placement in Norfolk Industries’ own factory environment in Norwich.
Development opportunities available through the programme include travel training for people who are not confident using public transport, health and safety awareness training, and CV building and interview skills training. The programme is partly funded by European Social Fund through the Local Investment in Future Talent (LIFT) Grant Scheme in Norfolk.
Norfolk Industries factory manager, Sharon Tooke, said: “This is great news. Our aim is to provide a supportive work environment for those living outside Norwich city centre who have struggled to find employment for whatever reason. To have the programme approved by Jobcentre Plus will help put candidates’ minds at rest in respect of their existing benefits and also provides confidence in the programme, which is wonderful.’
