The terror attack on Westminster might demonstrate the worst in human nature but it has prompted random acts of kindness which show people at their very best.

The death of 48-year-old Pc Keith Palmer, one of four killed in Wednesday's attack, has resulted in a huge outpouring of sympathy not only to the tragic officer and his immediate family and friends, but also to police officers throughout the country.

Norfolk police has received messages of support from members of the public, some of whom have gone into police stations to drop off flowers and cards. One card read: 'Dear police officers and personnel, thinking of you all in light of the incident at Westminster. Thank you so much for your invaluable contribution to our community'.

Norfolk police tweeted: 'In light of recent events, it's always nice to feel appreciated. Thank you to the member of public for her generous gifts today.'
