The Royal British Legion's (RBL) county parade marshal for Norfolk has been presented with one of the charity's highest awards.
Roy Hill, 80, of Plantation Drive, Sprowston, received the gold badge at the charity's national conference in Belfast in May.
According to the RBL website, the gold badge is awarded to a member who has given at least eight years of 'meritorious and conspicuous' service.
Mr Hill, who is the Sprowston RBL branch standard bearer, joined the charity 55 years ago in Cardiff - five years after leaving the Welsh Guards.
His family flew to Belfast from Stansted and Liverpool to watch him receive the award.
It was presented to him by the national president of the RBL, air marshall David Walker RAF (retired).
Mr Hill's wife, Valerie, said: 'The Norfolk standard bearers refer to him as 'the boss' and are delighted with his honour.'
