Marmalade produced on the north Norfolk coast has been recognised as some of the best in the world after picking up a string of awards.

Happisburgh-based Ollands Farm Foods was praised by judges for its unusual variations of the preserve at the 2018 World's Original Marmalade Awards.

This year's event, which was held on March 17, attracted more than 2,700 entries from across 30 different countries.

But it was Ollands' Seville and whisky marmalade, as well as its single malt marmalade, which stood out from the rest – earning two gold awards from judges.

The company's King Harry marmalade and Norfolk saffron marmalade also secured two bronze awards.

Owner Mary Ann Stuart said: 'We're really proud that three of the award winners this year are new to our range.

'It's fantastic that they've had such a positive reception.'

It is the fourth-year running that Ms Stuart's company has scooped an award at the international competition.

She founded the company five years ago with Kim Holt, and between them they produce around 400 jars-a-week of marmalades, jellies, pickled eggs and chutneys – all made using traditional methods.

Speaking about what makes their product so great, Ms Stuart said: 'It is the love and care that goes into it.

'It is all made using traditional methods and it is made with really good ingredients, we only use the best quality ingredients.'

Both the Norfolk saffron marmalade and King Harry marmalade are produced with ingredients from the company Norfolk Saffron, which is also based on the north Norfolk coast.

'We wanted our new collection of marmalades to be extra special,' Ms Stuart, aged 62, said. 'Saffron is the epitome of a luxury ingredient, that happens to work really well with citrus.

'Being able to work with another local producer was an absolute bonus.'

Last year the company received three golds and a silver at the marmalade awards. And in 2016 it received two silvers and a bronze.

Some of the other unusual award-winning flavours include lemon and herb, and lime and chilli.
