A Norfolk MP says he has successfully persuaded transport minister Mike Penning to hold a summit on the A47.

Great Yarmouth MP Brandon Lewis said every Norfolk MP, as well as representatives from the county council, will be invited to attend and added that it represents a brilliant opportunity to move the A47 up the priority list of central government.

Mr Lewis has been lobbying for this development for several months and is a passionate advocate for the need to improve the A47 and recently called for its significance to be upgraded.

He said: 'I am pleased that the minister has agreed to arrange this meeting, I will be encouraging my colleagues to attend so that we present a united front in our attempts to get this vital part of Norfolk's transport nervous system improved.'
