James Thorpe, 28, who is based at King's Lynn, and Michaela Watson, both from Boston, Lincs., were due to marry this Friday.

The couple pledged to go-ahead with the wedding after the accident, which occurred earlier this month in Magaluf.

But Mr Thorpe remains at Sheffield Spinal Injuries Unit after being flown home from the Spanish holiday resort, and Miss Watson said: 'We are praying James will be able to walk down the aisle. Hopefully, we can get married next year.'
