An online shop has been launched, selling a four-pack of flags, four-pack of A3 posters and 20 balloons at £4, while 5m of bunting is £7.50.

Celebration packs containing all of the above are also available for £15.

News of the event was excitedly received on February 16, with #NorfolkDay the top trending topic in the UK.

The initiative was launched by the EDP and Norwich Evening News in partnership with BBC Radio Norfolk and aims to celebrate everything great and unique about this historic and diverse county.

Friday July 27 is intended as a day of fun, and individuals, community groups and businesses are encouraged to get involved by hosting or participating in events.

David Powles, editor of the EDP and Norwich Evening News, said: 'We continue to be delighted with the response to Norfolk Day. On July 27 it would be fantastic to see the logo and its colours displayed all over the county, which is why we've decided to give people the opportunity to do just that with our Norfolk Day shop.'

Sports presenter Jake Humphrey is among the high-profile supporters - though he is concerned about revealing the county's secrets.

He said: 'Everyone that lives in Norfolk knows the secrets. We know how gorgeous the broads are, we know how stunning the beaches are and how vibrant Norwich is. I kind of like the fact that people outside of Norfolk don't know the secrets.

'So part of me thinks that Norfolk Day is great, because we can tell everyone how amazing it is. But I also want to try and keep it secret.'

Norfolk Day is not intended as a day of nostalgia, rather the event aims to highlight everything that is great about living in Norfolk today.

David Howell, East Anglia lead at the Federation of Small Businesses, said he hoped businesses 'will embrace Norfolk Day and think about ways to get involved'.
