Norfolk County Youth Orchestra (NCYO) celebrated their 59th birthday with an impressive performance at the St Andrews Hall in Norwich on Thursday, April 6.
Founded in 1959 but still going as strong as ever, the NCYO were joined for the special concert by three generations of alumni for a performance of under the baton of conductor Andrew Morley.
The concert started with an energetic rendition of Falla's Spanish Dance from the opera La Vida Breve.
Following this, the brilliant young violinist, Julia Hwang, who has already played on the international stage, gave an elegant and poised performance of Mendelssohn's E Minor Concerto.
The evening finished with a performance of Mahler's First Symphony, with Morley leading the orchestra through every nuance of the score whilst the players themselves delivered rich tones and outstanding performances.
