A Norfolk charity set up to help local good causes is being featured on a new ITV game show.

Tonya Knights, founder of Let's Do It Anyway Funding, had thought 12 Yard Productions was making a documentary - but during filming she was surprised by her good friend Jinny Proctor who came down from Nottingham to tell her that she would be competing on the show Holding Out For A Hero to raise funds for Ms Knights' charity.

Ms Knights, who lives in Badersfield, said: 'We were doing the filming and they got everyone in a circle and then suddenly my friend who I did not think could be there tapped me on the shoulder and told me she had been asked to be a contestant. It was absolutely overwhelming. We filmed the game show in July and are going to be on the second show. It is such an amazing platform for Let's Do It Anyway and it is really going to raise our profile. We only just launched this year and for other people to believe in the charity so much is amazing.'

Mrs Proctor, who will be one of three contestants competing for their chosen charities in the show presented by Gethin Jones, said: 'I have been friends with Tonya for about 20 years. She has been through a lot and I really wanted to help her charity.'

Ms Knights has refused to let a lifetime of medical trauma get her down and her charity is inspired by amazing people she has met who say 'let's do it anyway' despite their medical problems. The charity is raising funds for the Norwich Lowriders Junior Wheelchair Basketball Team, the Norwich Social Centre for the Blind, and the After Breast Cancer Group in Norwich.
