A Norfolk theatre company is looking for an actress to star in a stage adaptation of Sister Act.

The Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society (NNOS) is looking for a sassy comedy actress aged 30 to 50-years-old to play the lead role of Deloris Van Cartier who was played by Whoopi Goldberg in the 1992 film of the same name.

The musical is set to take to the stage at Norwich Theatre Royal from January 26 next year.

It is thought that the production will be the East Anglian amateur debut of the show.

David Pulling, chairman and production secretary of the society, said: 'We are now on the lookout for a strong female singer to take the leading role of Deloris Van Cartier, a role made famous by Whoopi Goldberg.'

The open auditions for the part of Deloris will take place on June 1 at the society's rehearsal venue, The Chapel, Douro Place, Norwich.

The auditions for other parts in the show will take place at The Chapel on September 7.

NNOS recently won two National Operatic and Dramatic Association awards for its production of Sweeney Todd which was performed at Norwich Theatre Royal.
