Charity reaches milestone in volunteer numbers

A charity reached a milestone this March when it recruited its 300th member.
Age UK Norfolk’s volunteer coordinator, Joe Rejek, said the increase from 280 people at the start of the year is partly due to a partnership with Norfolk County Council, who are allowing their staff time out to make calls from their desks as part of their In Good Company campaign against loneliness.
Most of the latest volunteers are part of the charity’s telephone befriending service – one of several services run by Age UK Norfolk in which volunteers play a vital role.
The charity has a variety of volunteering opportunities available, including as a telephone befriender, Money Matters helper or as an assistant at their brand new retail store in King’s Lynn.
