No buses will be serving Suffield Park on Cromer Carnival Day, a spokesman for Sanders Coaches said.

Carnival day, on Wednesday, August 21, has already kicked-off with yoga on the pier, with a performance by Romford Drum and Trumpet Corps and the presentation of prizes at Cromer Museum gardens starting at 10.15am.

Sanders Coaches said on Twitter: "Due to previous years and badly parked cars, no buses will be serving Suffield Park in either direction."

Richard Pengelly, general manager, Sanders Coaches, said: "It is just for Cromer Carnival day.

"The issue is caused by people who park their cars in ridiculous places to either avoid using the park and ride facility, which we supply buses for free of charge as the event is a charity event, or to ensure they can leave when they wish once the carnival parade has finished rather than wait until 9.30pm when the road is reopened."

The primary services impacted are the 44 and CH2 and Mr Pengelly added: "We adopted this plan last year as the situation in 2017 was just ridiculous. We single-handedly blocked the road because we could not get through, passengers were stranded and intending passengers could not get the bus as it was stuck on Mill Road.

"We did have one driver try to squeeze through but unfortunately a car was damaged. Drivers were threatened as the road was blocked and there is nowhere to turn a 12-metre bus.

"The 44 service will go straight up Norwich Road past Cromer Academy, the nearest stop will be the one at Halsey House. The CH2, which comes from Overstrand, will stay on Overstrand Road, the nearest stop for the hospital will be opposite the Grove restaurant, which is around 100 yards."

Meanwhile, the carnival field gates open at 9.30am for an emergency services display, followed by attractions including demonstrations from the West Lancashire Dog Display team and the RAF Parachute Display team leading up to the arrival of Miss Cromer, Jessica Foster, and the royal party at 12pm.

Events continue on the field until 4.15pm, when floats will begin arriving for judging at 5.45pm.

The parade sets off through the town at 7pm, passing via Runton Road through Prince of Wales Road
