A nine-year-old has braved the shave to raise £250 for his two chosen charities.
Albie Raisborough, nine, from Framingham Earl collected the money for Heads Together and Venture Farm Cat Rescue by having his hair shaved off at his school.
The Poringland Primary pupil’s dad worked with the headmaster to arrange a date and time as well as how best to advertise within the school.
Albie’s dad Kevin Raisborough, 52, said: “We aimed to do the same day as a cake sale so we could get more people around. The headmaster then included what was happening on the school Facebook page and via parent mail. I then contacted a friend who owns Goodfellas barbers in Poringland and he kindly donated his skills and time to come to the school and do the shave.”
Albie chose to raise money for both Venture Farm Cat Rescue and Heads Together.
Mr Raisborough, said: “Albie chose Venture Farm as he loves cats and my partner recently rescued some kittens and Albie helped them with the feeding and weighing of them before they were ready to be taken in by Venture Farm.
“As a family we have already rescued and kept two others and could not keep any more. Albie wanted to raise funds to help Venture Farm as they took on looking after the kittens we rescued.”
The second of Albie’s charities of choice Heads Together aim’s to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health and to inspire people to talk about their own mental health for the first time.
He decided on this charity to support his dad in his London Marathon fundraising.
Mr Raisborough is collecting for the charity as part of the entry he received through his company, Aviva’s wellbeing initiative.
Mr Raisborough added: “I am extremely proud and impressed that he not only came up with the idea on his own, but that he had a clear idea of why he wanted to do it. He also asked me to create a sponsorship form that he then took to friends and family.
“The fact he has now raised £250 is an amazing achievement and also that he wanted to help me with my fundraising.”
