Next year's Great Yarmouth pancake race could feature an after school slot, a senior manager at Great Yarmouth Borough Council has hinted.
This year's event was held on Shrove Tuesday and attracted a large crowd to the market place, raising more than £120 for the town's foodbank. However, it received some mild criticism for its timing.
The race was held at 12pm, which prompted an official complaint to Great Yarmouth Borough Council for not including children, who would have been at school at this time.
Responding to the complaint, Alan Carr, group manager for tourism and communications of the council, said: 'The event created a buzz in the town centre. A lunch-hour event seems to work well.
'However, this is the first year the event has taken place so I am sure the organisers will be looking at how it can be improved and built upon, including a possible 'after school' slot.
