Norwich-based QD Stores has opened its first temporary shop on Swaffham's high street.
In what the firm calls 'pop-up retailing' Buyright, which is QD's discount superstore subsidiary, will trade through the Christmas peak period until January.
The firm said that pop-up retailing was a growing trend, where companies opened short-term sales spaces, whether to fulfill a seasonal need or simply make better use of vacant properties.
'Empty high street shops are bad news for retailers and shoppers,' says QD group chief executive Justin Farrington-Smith. 'We are actively looking at opening more, smaller retail outlets so occupying otherwise vacant premises during the Christmas peak rush is a great start for us.'
