A music club is aiming to relive the good old days when it begins in the New Year.

The new Remember When music club is aimed at people over the age of 40 and will be held at Carlton Colville Community Centre, in Hall Road, every Friday from 7.45pm until 11.45pm in January.

And tonight, between 9pm and 11pm, people are urged to attend an informal get together at the community centre, to chat with organiser Tim Boardman and express their interest in becoming a member.

Mr Boardman, who used to run his own mobile request disco, has approximately 2,500 vinyl records and a number of CDs and new speakers to offer the group.

It is hoped that a range of music will be played, from the 1950s right the way up to the early 1980s.

There is also the hope that the group will also take part in social activities, themed nights, buffets, barbecues and charity fund-raising.

Mr Boardman said the club will 'be a friendly and happy place to make new friends' and 'an affordable entertainment club', where members can bring their own drinks and food.

'As one of my passions is music, I asked lots of local people about local entertainment, and they all agreed that there are plenty of places for youngsters to go to, but that there is nowhere for anyone over 40 to go to enjoy,' Mr Boardman said.

'Back in those days there were many diverse types of music with thousands of fantastic songs that are still loved by a great many people of various ages.

'Not only could this be a club to reminisce the music but also to reminisce all aspects of the good old days by discussing, enacting and sharing experiences of the past.' For more information, call Mr Boardman on 01502 514707 or 07501 088625.
