County councillors will hear a report this morning about the transport scheme which could boost the region's economy by £150m a year.

Plans could get the green light from the Department for Transport by the summer, and are set to be discussed by the county council's Economic Development and Transport Committee this morning.

It has also been revealed that building work could begin in the winter of 2020 and is scheduled to take two years to complete with the total cost of the scheme being about £120m.

The project could also help deliver 5,000 jobs, attract investment and open up access to the port.

A local contribution of 20pc is recommended, in line with the Lowestoft third crossing over Lake Lothing, which has already been approved.
